Chapter 2: Emerging Feelings
Amu awoke that morning from small rays of the sun shining on her face from the edges of her blinds on her window and a small tapping sound. It soon became louder and seemed to be coming from her window because it vibrated. Looking over at her charas and realizing they were all asleep she opened the blind just enough to see a figure. it was kukkai! Amu quickly went behind her blinds and closed them and almost ran to the bathroom to clean up. She hurried down the stairs as quietly but as quickly as she could and peered through the door to see him on the street throwing pebbles at her window. She crept out of the house and kukkai had not yet noticed her. She walked to him but still a fair distance away and hissed, "kukkai!" Kukkai slowely looked at amu then smiled and put his hand infrontof him. "hey, hinamori" he said. "what do you want?" amu said through her teeth. "i was wondering if you'd like to do more training and laps." he said. amu sighed as if in defeat of being angry anymore and began to yawn "wasnt that we were planning to do this afternoon" she said a low voice,acting tired. "well..." kukkai trailed off
Amu closed her eyes and gritted her teeth again and hissed "so you woke me up for nothing?!"
kukkai ignored how irratated she was and put his hands behind his head and looked at the sky "guess so"
"kukkai! you little-" she was then interupted by kukkai coming right up to her face and staring into her eyes
her eyes went wide "you mad at me?" he said with a blank expression. "eh?" amu said then she quickly turned sideways
from him and put her hands on her hips and her chin high with her eyes closed "theres gotta be some reason why you
were throwing stones at my window at 6 o'clock in the morning." she said still in her position. kukkai smiled
then put his arm around her "to stir up your family" he whispered in her ear. amu blushed but was still mad.
she opened her eyes and lowered her chin then moved his arm off her shoulder. she then lowered her head and started
walking away from her house. Kukkai caught with her. "hey, amu? whats up? one second you're all hyped up then you just
walk away with this 'i feel horrible and noone cares' look." he told her. amu didnt look at him she just kept walking
'why does he keep doing this to me? i like him, i like kukkai but its like hes only hanging out with me lately
to stir up my family and get laughs out of it and sometimes it actually feels like he knows i like him but he ends
up pretending and hurting my feelings again, but i know he'd never know so i guess its not true.' amu thought to
herself. "hinamori? is it something i said?" kukkai asked as he had stopped a few metres before and was quite a
distance from her. amu then stopped too. her back to him she said, "its always something you say...and its always
something you do!" her back still too him kukkai held out his hand as if he were trying to reach her, but he wasnt moving
"hinamori-" he said then amu began to run, run wherever she could. and she heard kukkai call after her, "hinamori!"
She felt like a baby, acting this way. Getting so upset over this, she felt so sensative and weak.
She didnt have any excuses for herself so she kept running with her
eyes shut to stop the tears that started to come down her cheaks and some tears that flew behind her while she was running.
then she ran into something she opened her eyes and looked up. it was Ikuto! she stepped a few steps back and looked at him
he had a grin but then it disappeared when he saw her face. tears went down her cheeks. "im sorry" she said as she then
ran past him, ikuto watched her run into the distance untill he could not see her anymore this time she was determind
to keep her eyes open so she wouldnt run into anyone. she then sat under a tree. after she had caught her breath she
then looked up to see Ikuto looking down at her with his hands in his pockets. She wiped her eyes, "what?" she said in
a soft tone. "nothing,I just... "saw you crying" he sat down almost beside her but his back to her. he was leaning
against the same tree. "and i wondered what was wrong" he sighed as if someone had forced him to come over there and
talk to amu. "stupid kukkai" amu muttered under her breath. then ikutos head went up, as if he realized something
and he looked over his shoulder while turning abit to amu, "so that guy's your boyfriend?" ikuto asked with a blank
expression. "what? no! and why does everyone keep assuming that, he's the complete opposite!" amu said in a louder and
irratated tone. then ikuto turned to her and grinned, "good, so that means your my girlfriend? eh?"
amus eyes almost popped out of her head, "huh!?" ikuto then gave a small chuckle "guess you dont mind it so much?"
he said then sat next to her grinning. "of course i mind!!!" amu said moving a bit away from ikuto. he pouted abit then
grinned, "here comes my compitition" he said. looking away from amu. "huh?" amu said then she turned a bit and noticed
kukkai there, his hands on his knees trying to catch his breath, "hinamori" he said while puffing. "what ever i did wrong
i'm sorry" kukkai said between cathcing his breath. and before amu could speak a word ikuto grabbed her and she ended up
leaning on his chest with his arms around her. Amu blinked a few times and blushed untill her cheaks felt like they were
burning. "shes with me, so you cant make her anymore upset" ikuto said with his arms still around amu
and amu in the same position as moments ago. Kukkai then took his hands off his knees and stood straight and what
crossed his face seemed like an annoyed expression. "what-" kukkai started to say then stopped when amu put both ofher hands
on ikutos chest and pushed herself backwards as if to try and get away. "i-ikuto!" she said.
kukkai gritted his teeth, "let go of her!" he almost yelled at ikuto. then kukkai grabbed amus hand and ikuto released his
arms and kukkai pulled her to her feet. Amu stared at kukkai in amazement. Ikuto stood up looking kukkai in the eyes
and they both looked like they were going to punch eachother. Ikuto chuckled then looked at amu "ha. the boy's jealous
...cute" ikuto said to amu. Amu then tryed to think of something to say. "c'mon amu, lets go" kukkai said
looking at her. Amu looked back and forth at the two guys staring at her. "uh, um" she said softly trying to figure
out a way to sort this out. Then ikuto grabbed her hand and pulled her arm so their faces where inches away,
"hey!" kukkai said. then ikuto whispered to amu so only she could hear, "my work here is done, you got your boyfriend back
...guess he's the jealous type so we wont be hanging out much i suppose."
then kukkai pushed ikuto away from amu. and ikuto grinned, "you're still jealous" ikuto told kukkai. then kukkai got
even more angry and grabbed amus hand and started walking back to amus house while almost dragging amu behind
because she was still trying to figure out what just happened. Then before they knew it they were back at amu's house
and the walk calmed kukkai down. he let go of her hand, stopped and turned to her. "amu, can you tell me what i did wrong
so i can appoligize and improve myself so that wont happen again." kukkai said to her.
amu's head went down abit "well, you always do this stuff to me, you act like-like you care or something then you turn
around and laugh like it was all a joke. I dont like you being my so called pretend 'boyfriend'" she explained.
then kukkai smiled and almost laughed and amu felt annoyed inside. "hinamori, i pretend to be your boyfriend because i
want to be." amus eyes grew bigger and she turned red "its not that easy to admit you know." he told her.
"i-" amu started to say. "i know i havent been myself this morning, but right now im going to be less of myself
because im asking you for a chance." he told her. amu smiled on the inside because he had just confessed to her, but
she wasnt smiling on the outside and she suddenly knew why. "kukkai, be yourself because if it isnt you that is asking
me this then i wont accept." amu said then started to walk to the house and kukkai stared at her in amazement then said,
"i'll be myself next time, so you'll say yes. i guarantee it!" kukkai said then did his classic thumbs up.
amu looked over her shoulder and smiled. Then went into the house and could not stop smiling.
